There is no stopping the Berbice Volleyball Association (BVA) in its drive to spread the game to all parts of the Ancient County. As such the organization which has been very active so far for 2016 will be conducting another volleyball outreach in the remote farming areas of Black Bush Polder today.
The activity will be open to persons living in the Black Bush Polder area that are interested in learning to play the game and those playing but are interested in enhancing their skills and even those who would have stopped playing.
Male and female players from all four of the polders including Mibicuri, Yakusari, Lesbeholden, Johanna and also Zambia are expected to converge at the Mibicuri Volleyball court. There they are expected to be joined by players from the Orealla/ Siparuta areas and from established clubs from the coast.
The outreach which is a part of the BVA series of volleyball outreaches will be the third for the year so far with the Riverain communities of Orealla/Siparuta benefitting. There was also one for female and junior players at Skeldon, Corentyne.
The day’s activity is expected to get started at 09:00 hrs.
Lectures, coaching and a few exhibition games are part of the day’s programme. Literature, balls and other volleyball assortments will be presents to the teams. A number of exhibition games are also expected to be played.
The BVA is also hoping to spot a few talents, especially among the females and juniors players to join the BVA squad in training for upcoming competitions.
Resource persons are expected to include BVA president Levi Nedd and former President Gregory Rambarran among others. A number of national players will be on hand to assist. (Samuel Whyte)
