Kaieteur Sports – A collective all-round effort from Guyana got them past an in-form Windward Islands XI by 6-wickets yesterday as curtains came down on this season’s CG United Women’s Super50 tournament.
Knocks from Mandy Mangru (24), Shamaine Campbell (26*), Laurene Williams (14) and Shabika Gajnabi (10) took Guyana 100-4 batting first.
All-rounder Afy Fletcher picked up 2-23 with a wicket apiece coming from Janiella Glasgow (1-29) and Carena Noel (1-6).
Fletcher (21), Glasgow (22) and top-scorer Earnisha Fontaine (32) failed to get Windwards over the ropes, as they found themselves short at 97 all out.
Spinner Ashmini Munisar (4-21) completed a good tournament with another 4-wicket haul, while Kaysia Schultz (2-25) and Mangru (2-19) kept things stiff for the Windwards.
Batting first, Leewards posted 146 all out, thanks to efforts from Reniece Boyce (37), Jahzara Claxton (29) and Captain Amanda Edwards (27).
Jamaica all-rounder Chedean Nation bagged 4-23, with assistance from Stafanie Taylor (2-34) and Celina Whyte (2-19).
Jamaica in reply ended on 149-2 after a 94-run stand from openers Chrishana McKenzie (39) and Lena Scott (47), which set the tone for veterans Rashada Williams (29*) and Taylor (19*) to finish the job.
Skipper Aaliyah Alleyne (43) and Trishan Holder (32) led the scoring as the Bajans posted 152-9 batting first from 48 overs.
After claiming 8 wickets against Guyana, Ansia Mohammed spun her way to another 4 wickets alongside Nadia Mohammed (3-24), Karishama Ramharack (1-21) and Samara Ramnath (1-20).
Needing 153 for victory, Trinidad got to the revised DLS required target of 133-5 which ensured their victory, with additional help from Britney Cooper (12), Anisa (14) and Lee-Ann Kirby (11*).
Djenaba Joseph (35) and Shunelle Sawh (34) were the top-scorers for the Trinidadians.
