2026 Concacaf Women’s u17 Qualifiers…
Kaieteur Sports – Guyana Women’s under-17 football team are scheduled to play their final Group D match of the 2026 Concacaf Women’s Under-17 Qualifiers today when they oppose the hapless St. Vincent and the Grenadines unit at the Guillermo Prospero Trinidad Stadium in Oranjestad, Aruba.
After three matches, Guyana has a win, a draw and a loss, which tallied to four points on the table and a seat in third place. Honduras has remained perfect with three wins from as many matches to lead the Group with 9 points, while Jamaica has two wins and a draw for a total of seven points and a spot in second place.
The other two teams at the bottom of the Group, Aruba and St. Vincent and the Grenadines, have three and zero points, respectively.
One match remains for every team in the Group except Aruba. The top two teams in the Group face off at 20:00 hrs on Monday, February 2, after Guyana battles St. Vincent and the Grenadines earlier in the day at 15:00 hrs.
A win for Guyana means they will match the Jamaicans’ points, but must hope the mighty Honduras squad defeats the Reggae Girls and restrict their goal scoring. However, Guyana must record a clean sheet result in that final match with a score no lower than 8 – 0 to beat Jamaica’s goal difference of 7.
With that, Guyana must then hope they are among the top two second-place finishers to advance to the next round. Only the six Group winners (A, B, C, D, E and F) and the best two second-place finishers will advance to the Concacaf Women’s Under-17 Qualifiers Final Round.
Meanwhile, the Junior Women’s team’s game play across the three matches was quite commendable as they held Jamaica to a 1 – 1 result to open their campaign, then recorded a confident 0 – 2 win against the host nation, Aruba. They lost the most recent encounter to a very skillful Honduras unit, 1 – 3, even though the effort expended was exceptional.
Guyana’s U17 Squad: Jasmine Solomon-Ross (GK), Alexis Mars (GK), Sara Ernest (GK), Aliyah John, Ella Yhip, Kuleni Springer, Lily Biffin, Avril Pasvolsky, Laila Ross, Laila So, Caraleena Elliston, Sydney Glean, Kimora Edwards, Arianna Chin, Carissa Lombardi, Ellie Biffin, Ayah Stewart, Alexaudria Chasles, Tanya De Vair, Anaya Joseph and Eleanna Isaacs.
