It was a good day for the UG Wolves as they trashed Police Falcons 64 -5 in the Guyana Telephone Telegraph sponsored Guyana Rugby Football Union fifteens Division one League on Sunday at the National Park.
Action in the contest between the UG Wolves and Police Falcons in the GRFU, GTT Rugby 15’s League at the National Park Sunday.
Godfrey Brooms, with four tries and one conversion along with Lancelot Adonis three tries and six conversions, lead the Assault as UG Wolves ran havoc on Police Falcons.
Encouraged by their coach Troy Yhap on the sideline, the youngPolice unit played their hearts out making some good tackles and tangible runs, but lacked the finishing touch due to inexperience. Nether the less, it was Captain Daniel DeAbreu who muscled his way past the UG defensive line to give his team five points as he missed the conversion in the first half of the one sided game.
The sudden down pour of rain couldn’t stop the show, as the UG Wolves extended their lead with scores from Rondel McArthur, Malcolm Rodgers and Ossie McKenzie with one try each.
UG’s Coach Laurie Adonis was pleased with the result, but stated that the real test for UG Wolves is when they face Yamaha Caribs in their next game on Sunday. Police Falcons would play Pepsi Hornets on Saturday.
Games slated for Saturday & Sunday start at four in the afternoon at the National Park Rugby field.
The four teams competing in the tournament are UG Wolves, Police Falcons, Yamaha Caribs and Pepsi Hornets, while the tournament is sponsored by Telephone giant, GTT.
