12th Busta Champion of Champions 2015…RHTG&G to face Tuckber Park in final on January 24 at Area ‘H’ ground
The Area ‘H’ ground in Rose Hall Town would come alive on Sunday January 24 when the Rose Hall Town Youth and Sports Club hosts the final of the Busta Champion of Champions 40-overs competition which is in its 12th year.
Facing off in the final will be arch rivals Rose Hall Town Gizmos and Gadgets and Tuckber Park (formerly Bermine) in a match that is expected to be of a very high standard with both teams boasting several Berbice and Guyana players.
RHT Gizmos and Gadgets defeated West Berbice by 25 runs in their semi final at the Area ‘H’ ground to book their 11th spot in the final since 2004 while Tuckber Park, the losing 2005 finalists got the better of Young Warriors by six wickets at the Cumberland Ground.
A large crowd is anticipated to attend this match which will see children being admitted free of cost; a children’s fun park would be set up at the ground to provide entertainment for kids.
RHTG&G would be led by Shawn Perriera who would be without the services of Assad Fudadin, Royston Crandon, Vidal Crandon and Renwick Batson who are all overseas. However, able support in the batting department will come from Khemraj Mahadeo, Jason Sinclair, Shemaine Campbelle, Rajiv Ivan, Brandon Prashad, Micheal Hicks, Clinton Pestano and Eon Hooper.
The bowling attack would be spearheaded by pacers Pestano and Keon Sinclair with support from offspinners Collis Butts, Hooper, Troy Mathieson, Mahadeo, Ivan and leg spinner Shawn Perriera. Tuckber Park has not declared their official squad but they are expected to be spearheaded by Jomeal and Eugene LaFleur, Devon Clements, Nial Smith, Keon DeJesus, Hakeem Hinds and the talented Steve Deonarine.
The winning team would take home $100,000 and the Busta trophy while the runner-up receives $50,000. Managing Director of the Guyana Beverage Inc., Mr. Robert Selman, Marketing Manager Shameeza Yadram are expected to be on hand at the final.
