Darnell Douglas and Melroy Stephenson stroked half centuries as University of Guyana (UG) took first day honours against Georgetown Cricket Club (GCC) in their semi final encounter of the Georgetown Cricket Association (GCA)/Noble House Sea Foods second division two-day tournament which commenced yesterday.
Douglas struck 82 and Stephenson 52 as UG posted 283 all out in 60 overs, batting first at Bourda.
Following the demise of Stephenson, UG lost their way somewhat, but Douglas steadied the innings, adding 93 for the seven-wicket with Devon George who made 23. Martin Pestano Belle grabbed 4-54 and left arm spinner Devon Lord 3-92. The home team were 35-2 at sumps with Kennard Moonsammy on three. Belle went for nine while Manny Forde was dismissed on the stroke of time for 22.
