Guyana’s senior national women’s football team, The Lady Jags will face Puerto Rico on Wednesday November 18, at the Ato Boldon Stadium, Couva, Trinidad and Tobago in the final round of the Caribbean Football Union (CFU) Women’s Olympic Qualifiers, final round.

The CFU had written to the Guyana Football Federation (GFF), stating that they were having major challenges in securing a host for the Women’s Olympic qualifiers, but the Trinidad & Tobago Football Federation has agreed to host the Women’s Qualifiers final round.
Guyana, Jamaica and Puerto Rico had qualified for the ‘four team playoff’ by coming out on top of their respective groups. The Lady Jags will arrive in the Twin Island Republic on November 16 and should they be victorious against Puerto Rico, they will advance to the finals on November 20.
In the final round, the four teams will play a single-elimination tournament. The two finalists and the winner of the third place match will qualify for the 2016 CONCACAF Women’s Olympic Qualifying Championship as CFU representatives.
If the Lady Jags finish within the top three, they will face the likes of USA, Canada, Mexico and two representatives from the Central American region.
The ‘Lady Jags had advanced to the final round by conquering fellow Group 4 teams, Cuba and St Kitts and Nevis, while Puerto Rico played undefeated against Haiti, Grenada and Aruba in Group 1.
Jamaica, who was placed in Group 3 with the Dominican Republic and Dominica, also qualified after dominating the group. Group 2 winners have not yet been decided since the group has not yet been played. Initially, St Lucia was identified as the host nation of this group alongside Trinidad and Tobago, Antigua and Barbuda and the Cayman Island.
