Action resumes for August Beverage and Sparta Bosses Small Goal Knockout Competition
Last year the action was electrifying but the feature affair fizzed out to a tame draw when August Beverage and Sparta Bosses staged their Small Goal Knockout Competition at Sparta Turf Go Slow Avenue.
The much hyped grudge match, the clash between Sparta Bosses and August Beverages for a winner take all purse of 4 million dollars, ended in a goalless stalemate leaving the burning question of which unit was really the better.
The competition gets underway tomorrow evening and the organizers have since revisited and restructured the format and this time around there will be a definitive winner. Contrary to last year, the grudge match will progress into extra time and possibly penalty shootout to arrive at a winner.
In all, fourteen teams will battle in the competition which concludes on February 22 with that feature match for a first place prize of $300,000 with second and third place finishers receiving $150,000 and $50,000 respectively. Other play days are February 18th, 20th and 22nd.
The participating teams are Sparta, Broad Street, Albouystown, Island All Star, Fruit Stand, North, Future, North East, Globe Yard, Charlotte Street, Plaisance, Front Road, Chester Jewelry and Stevedore. Activities are sponsored by August Beverage, Moncherri Beauty Salon, John Lewis Styles and Y K Investment.
