The Rising Sun Turf club in collaboration with Mohammed ‘Nanko’ Shariff of the Shariff Business Enterprise and racing stable will be staging a grand one day horserace meet at the club’s entity, Arima Park West Coast Berbice on Sunday 30 November.
The organizers have put together an impressive eight-race programme with incentives totaling over $6.5M in cash; trophies are up for grabs during the day’s proceedings.
The feature A class event has total prize money of over $2M with the winner set to race away with a sumptuous $1M and trophy over 1400M.
There is a race for horses classified E3 and covering a distance of 1400M which has a winning price tag of $400,000 and trophy. The three year old race is for West Indies and Guyana Bred and born horses with the winning prize also set at $400,000 and trophy.
The G3 and lower showdown will see the top animals running for the $300,000 first prize in another 1400M contest.
There are two events for two year old animals. The first for those born and bred in Guyana and the West Indies which has a winning take of $300,000 and trophy over 11000M. The other two year event is for those bred and born in Guyana only, for a first prize of $200,000 and trophy also over 11000M.
There is a race for I class horses with the pole position takings set at $200,000 and trophy over 1100M.
The other event on the days programme is for horses classified J and lower and will see the winner receiving $180,000 and trophy over 1100M.
A number of sponsors are already on board including Beverage Giants Banks DIH Limited, Trophy Stall, Republic Bank, Gene Equipped (John Dere) Company, Jumbo Jet, Shano Seenarine, Younas Construction, KP Jagdeo Construction, Colin Elcock’s Delmur Shipping Company and the Shariff Business enterprise.
Businessman Ramesh Sunich of the Trophy Stall, Bourda Market as usual is on board with sponsorship for the individual prizes which includes the champion jockey, champion trainer and champion stable among others.
The Race will be held under the rules of the Guyana Horse Racing Authority and entries are expected o be closed on Sunday 23rd November.
Bugle time is 13:00 hrs.
