Three Guyanese Cricketers have been selected on the West Indies Blind Cricket team for the next Blind Cricket World Cup in South Africa later this year and according to Assistant Manager Guyanese Theresa Pemberton, the Guyana Blind Cricket Association has written to the Guyana Cricket Board (GCB) and the Guyana Government for assistance.
Guyanese Anthony Robinson, Kevin Douglas and Leroy Phillips have been selected to participate in the fourth Blind Cricket World Cup in Cape Town, South Africa from November 25th to 9th December 2014.
“The Guyana Blind Cricket Association has written the Guyana Cricket Board for bats, gloves and gear bags. We also asked the Government to assist us with funding to make it possible for the Guyana contingent to be able to participate. We are still awaiting word from both parties” Pemberton disclosed.
There will be a Camp in Barbados from the November 16 before the team wings out to South Africa. There will also be the World Blind Cricket Council Meeting on November 23 and 24 in South Africa and Pemberton (Guyana) and Barbadian Carison Henry are the West Indies delegates attending that meeting.
