Lady Secret wins feature event at Budhan’s Memorial Horserace meet

The Budhan Memorial Turf Club and Sports Complex of No. 66 Village, Corentyne, Berbice on Sunday held their grand one day horserace meet at the club’s entity at the above mentioned village.
It was no secret affair as all saw Lady Secret ridden by jockey Ajai Sansarran of the D. McKenzie stable was in good form to race away with the feature J2 and lower 1mile event.
The horses were out of the box with a level break as they jostled for positions and into the back stretch the race was still open. However as the horses hit the far turn for home, Lady Secret began to take orders with Ajai spurring him on.
Jockey Ajai Sansarran had enough time to relax as he cantered home abode Lady Secret in the Feature J2 and lower event.
The animal then picked up speed to come through on the outside with a thunderous gallop to fly past Speed Vision, The Road Is Mine and Quincy to take away the $120,000 top money and Budhan Memorial Trophy. The Road is Mine settled for second with Speed Vision fading into third and Quincy occupying fourth position.
Quincy of the Zaheed stable with Prem Chandra on the hunch however had things its way in the J3 and lower 6furlongs event, dusting its opponents to take the $90,000 winners pocket and trophy from Slim Shady with Speed Vision once again fading for third.
There was some controversy in the K class 6 furlongs event won by Nikita with Motilall the jockey. The authorities claimed that the owner changed the name from Wicket Revenge which is a higher class horse to Nikita without informing the authorities. However after some persuasions organizer Neville Budhan in a good gesture decided to let the result stand and adequately compensated the others. Willie Up Town ran down the second place while Go Zapper could go no better than third. The win was worth $70,000 and trophy.
Cart Man of the Zaheed stable had started things off on the right footing for the handlers who had travelled all the way from the East Coast. With no load to juggle and only Jockey Prem Chandra on its back to spur it on, the racehorse made good use of the opportunity to gallop away with the 6 furlongs L1 and lower event and the $30,000 and trophy. Willie Up Town was able to keep up for second with the unlucky Lucky Dollar finishing third as Fit to Fight ended fourth.
Diamond in the Sky ridden by Rad Drepaul shone brightly as it won the L2 and lower 6furlongs event from Journey, Fit to Fight and Forgiven Kid. The win was worth $25,000 and trophy.
The Zaheed stable from The East Coast Demerara made sure that their over 100 miles travel was not in vain as they rode away with the championship trophy with both Quincy and Cart man scoring victories. S. Bharrat of the same entity was the top trainer. The top jockey was Prem Chandra.
Organiser Neville Budhan was happy and expressed thanks to all for the wonderful turn out and support at the day’s meet.
The event was organized under the auspices of the Guyana Horse Racing Authority.
The next event at the entity is slated for November.
