Guyanese chess players canter along despite fluctuating fortunes
Guyanese chess players continue to experience fluctuating fortunes but nevertheless are putting up strong challenges as action in the 41st Chess Olympiad in Tromsø, Norway, continues.
Ronuel Greenidge predictably won his 8th round game against Tito Kahn when the Guyana team played against Jersey Sunday afternoon last.
Haifeng Su had to settle for a draw against Krzysztof Belzo while Anthony Drayton dropped his game to Graham Mooney and Variba-Thomas Maria lost out to Garry Forbes.
Meanwhile, Muesa sent a release to this newspaper indicating that though he is not participating in the championships, he will procure valuable activity when he competes in a 3 days UIT Arctic Chess Challenge.
He said that the double segmented tournament will comprise 2 games of 15 minutes each and an additional 30 seconds extension followed by 5 games of 90 minutes and a further 30 seconds extension.
