The National Schools Basketball Festival (NSBF) continued Monday night at the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall with wins for Kwakwani Secondary School and Marian Academy in the Under-14 version of the competition.
Kwakwani beat Saints 33-10 with Isaiah David scoring eight points and grabbing nine rebounds and Asher Grannum adding six points with 14 rebounds. Nial Beaton had four points with five rebounds for Saints.
Marian Academy’s Josiah Daniels scored nine points and Jahleel Young seven points along with a massive 19 rebounds to give their school a 20-10 victory over Bishop’s High School. Webster McRae had six points and eight rebounds for Bishop’s High.
In the Under-19 version of the competition, Saints won 41-37 against McKenzie High School with Travis Belgrave scoring 22 points and six rebounds and Kwasi Thompson 11 points and seven rebounds. Daniel Anthony had 19 points for McKenzie High.
Kwakwani then defeated St. Rose’s High School 68-33 with Leonard Primo scoring 25 points and 11 rebounds and Stanton Rose pouring in 13 points and five rebounds. For Rose’s, Nathan Saul had 16 points.
Jonathan Pooran and Daniel Ramlagan scored 14 points apiece with six rebounds each to win an encounter with Bishop’s High School 48-42. Marvin Durant had 14 points and Daniel Haynes eight points and 13 rebounds for Bishop’s High.
JC. Chandisingh had a 29-26 victory of Marian Academy with Kevin Deolall scoring 10 points and Kobe Crawford seven points and nine rebounds. Judah Stephney had eight points and three rebounds for Marian Academy.
