The Ryan Crawford Memorial Turf Club and Sports Facilities is gearing to get back in full flow again with the staging of a grand one day horserace set for next Sunday 13th July at the club’s Alness, Corentyne, Berbice racetrack.
Known to having the best track among all the racing clubs in Guyana, the current inclement weather should not cause much bother for the organizers of the race meet.
Over $5M is up for grabs and a total of 8 races are billed for the day’s card with attractive cash incentives ad trophies at stake. With this being the first meet billed for the entity in more than two years, horseracing fans are expected to come out in their numbers to swarm the entity where an action packed and scintillating day of racing is anticipated.
So far over 30 of the country’s top horses have taken entry in what is expected to a signature opening event.
Sponsorship has been garnered from Banks DIH, Guyana Tourism Authority, Trophy Stall and Shariff Business Enterprise and Racing Stable with a few others expected to come on board. With their well known ability in bring off successful events, the organizers have vowed to make this occasion a memorable one and set the stage for the rest of the year.
The events listed to be contested are the A and lower 1600M event for a first prize of $1M and trophy with a total purse of over $2M. The G and lower event over 1400M with a first prize of $300,000 and trophy. The 3 years old Maiden and Guyana bred open will see the horses galloping over 1300M for take home money of $300,000.
The Guyana bred two year old horses will compete for a winners money of $200,000 over 1100M. The I and lower1200M even will see the animals racing for a $250,000 purse and trophy. The animals in the ‘J1’ class event will be competing for a $180,000 prize over 1200M. The K&L unclassified event will fetch a winning prize of $150,000over 1200M.
Outstanding individual performers including top Jockey, trainer and stable will be presented with accolades compliments of the Trophy Stall, Bourda Market and the RCMTC&SF.
