Race Walkers from all over the country will match steps on Sunday April 13th 2014, when the Cavaliers Sports and Tour Club stages its Road to Brazil 10k Race Walk around the National Park, Thomas Lands, commencing at 06:30hrs.
The race will launch a series of Race Walks which is aimed at moulding a team to participate in the Olympics in 20016 in Brazil.
The activities will continue on Sunday April 20 with the first of two races in the Mining town of Linden.
On Easter Sunday, April 20, the race will commence at 06:30hrs at the Linden Bridge (Wismar end) and proceed along the Winifred Gaskin’s Highway, ending at the Bayroc Recreational Centre, Wisroc.
On Sunday April 27, the Linden Town Week Race Walk will start at the Amelia’s Ward junction, McKenzie and proceed to Egbert Benjamin Center, Republic Drive, for the finish.
Trophies, Medals and other prizes will be at stake in the categories Male and Female (Seniors), Juniors, Veterans and Differently Abled.
Meanwhile, Co-ordinator of the CSTC, Jennifer Major is appealing to Corporate Guyana, the Government and sport loving individuals to come forward and assist in the development and expansion of Race Walking with the donation of trophies, medals and other prizes as well as water and transportation.
