Kaieteur Sports – Soesdyke Masters of Guyana surged to a commanding 75-run win to claim the annual Grenada T20 Festival trophy after beating Munroe Road Masters of Trinidad and Tobago in the final on Sunday at Tanteen ground, St. George, Grenada.
Soesdyke Masters reached a formidable 221-3 from the allotted 20-over having won the toss and opted to take first strike.
Munroe Road Masters in reply, only got to 147-3 at the expiration of the 20-overs.
Opener Clement Archer struck a blistering, unbeaten 122 for Soesdyke Masters to lead the way.
The right-handed Archer clobbered eight sixes and nine fours during his 59-ball stay at the crease.
He also featured in a flamboyant, 148-run, opening stand with Felix Walker who contributed 20.
When Munroe Road Masters batted, Captain Anil Barlo offered a fight with 30 while Glenn Farley and Jerome Smith scored 28* and 23 respectively.
Seamer Anthony Ifill grabbed 2-6 from two tidy overs while former Guyana youth pacer Ucil Armstrong also collected two wickets and conceded 29 runs from his maximum four overs delivering for the visitors on a responsive pitch.
The other teams that took part in the round-robin competition were: Spice Isles Masters, Amaas Masters and West Indies Masters.
Soesdyke Masters received a trophy and US$5000.
