The two Grenadian athletes will represent their country in what has now become a regional meet with the inclusion of athletes from the Caribbean; Pascal, a seasoned campaigner will compete in the International Women’s 1500m and 3000m races, while Radix has been registered for the 1500 and 5000m events at the mega meet.

The Boyce & Jefford Track and Field Classic IV will be held at the Police Sports Club, Ground, Eve Leary today beginning at 12 noon with the Heats and eight finals and tomorrow at the Mackenzie Sports Club Ground, Linden from 2pm with all finals.
Pascal told the media that she is here to perform and will be leaving no stones unturned to ensure she gets into the top three in the International Women’s 1500m, especially; the race carries prizes of US$250, US$150 and US$100 for the top three finishers.
“I am hoping to perform at the best of my ability.
Hopefully, I can get in the top three and return a better time than last year,” Pascal said, adding that she is considering Alika Morgan and Tonya Nero, from Trinidad and Tobago, her main rivals in the race.
The International Women’s 1500m will feature an impressive field of women including, Pascal, Nero, Morgan, triple CARIFTA Games gold medallist and CARIFTA Games bronze medallist, Andrea Foster along with Jevina Straker and Jenella Jonas among others.
A total of 16 women have been registered for this marquee event at the Boyce & Jefford Classic, which will also feature junior sensation from Linden, Cassey George in a guest appearance in the race amid her senior counterparts since her CARIFTA gold medal.
The race will definitely be one of the best of the events to-date.
Meanwhile, Pascal’s Grenadian teammate, Radix, will be competing in the Men’s 1500m and 5000m races. He said that he wants to be tested against Guyana’s best to have an impression of his standard.
“It will be my first international competition for quite some time, since CARIFTA in 2008 to be exact. I am looking to better my times and matching strides with international competition,” the distance athlete said shortly after arriving in Guyana.
Radix will be up against Guyana and the Caribbean’s leading distance athlete, Cleveland Forde in both events. Dennis Horatio from Police and Jamaul Chisholm from the Defence Force will be contesting the events as well, making them extremely interesting.
Trinidad and Tobago and Suriname were expected to arrive yesterday for the meet that gets underway today. Caribbean Airlines had partly sponsored the airfare for the regional contingents set to compete in Guyana over this weekend at the two venues.
