All Saints Primary School of New Amsterdam played unbeaten to come out winners when the Hearts of Oak Master Football Club of New Amsterdam in collaboration with the Guyana Teachers Union (GTU) – New Amsterdam branch, staged their Inter-primary school U13 male football competition on Thursday last for Primary schools in New Amsterdam at the All Saints Scott’s Church ground.
The tournament, which was played two days after the girls
segment of the competition was played on a round-robin basis, saw five schools participating with the matches being 15 minutes apiece. The schools that took part in the competition were St Therese’s, St Aloysius, All Saints, Overwinning and New Amsterdam Primary.
In results of the matches played – St Therese’s beat St Aloysius Primary 1-0 with Edon Stephen scoring. The second match saw All Saints Primary getting the better of Overwinning Primary 2-0 with both goals coming off the boot of Kevon McAndrew.
The next game between New Amsterdam Primary and St Aloysius primary ended in a 0-0 stalemate. St Therese’s then needled Overwinning primary 1-0 in their clash with Ryan Rose being on target. The match between All Saints Primary and New Amsterdam Primary ended in a 0-0 draw. St Aloysius then made their presence count by beating Overwinning Primary 2-0 with Alisie Ogleton and a defence error accounting for their goals.
St Aloysius and Overwinning Primary then drew 0-0. There was also a 0-0 draw in the match between St Therese’s Primary and All Saints Primary. All Saints Primary then edged past St Aloysius 1-0 with Tyrece Williams scoring.
The final game in the day’s encounter between New Amsterdam Primary and Overwinning primary ended in another 0-0 stalemate.
St Therese’s ended second place with New Amsterdam Primary coming third.
The Most Valuable player award was presented to Shaquan George of All Saints primary, while the best Goalkeeper on show was Tierre Philips of New Amsterdam primary. The Most Promising Player prize was presented to Daniel Dharamdat of All Saints primary. The Most goals award went to Kevon McAndrew also of All Saints primary. They all received trophies.
