Stephen Budhu, Chairman/CEO of Misteden Soccer, a USA based company, is continuing his support for women’s football development in Guyana. In October 2010, Budhu had outfitted the Senior Lady Jags team with boots as well as made a donation of footballs when they held a pre-tournament training camp in Florida ahead of the CONCACAF Women’s Gold Cup Finals which was held in Cancun, Mexico.
Fifteen-year-old Berbician Central defender Luana Semple was presented with a pair of boots as a means of encouragement for the high level of discipline and commitment she has shown ever since taking up the sport, less than one year now.
Berbice Football Association (BFA) President Keith O’Jeer noted that Semple has been displaying admirable discipline so far and that was a major factor in making the determination.
Semple is a part of the Berbice female team that whipped West Demerara 5-2 when the Guyana Football Federation (GFF) kicked off its female Inter Association last weekend.
Budhu has stated that he will be making similar presentations to a few more female players as a means of encouragement during the coming weekes. He also noted that the boots are of a high quality and very comfortable.
