After the final completion of East Georgetown (District 12) Track Championship at the Georgetown Cricket Club, Thursday; Javina Straker, Alita Moore, Adama Roberts and Kevin Scott will be positive picks for the National Schools Championships for East Georgetown.
The competition, which had a lot of upsets, saw the four mentioned dominating their specific areas.
The two time gold medalist, Straker did not experience any difficulties in the races. She had what was called a cool collective race. Straker of Tutorial High School clocked 11:38.82 seconds to take the girls open 5000m, while O’Neil Joseph, who is no stranger to District 12 took the boys version ahead of Queenstown’s Jody Jarvis. Alita Moore spiced up the track in the U-18 girls sprint area. Moore of the Police Progressive Youth Club created surprises on the track for her school after claiming the girls U-18 sprint triple while her fellow club mate Roberts of North Georgetown Secondary governed the U-20 middle distance category.
Roberts added some rays of sunlight to the girls U-20 1500m under the overcast condition after separating her opponents over 300 meters in the 1500m to claim an easy victory.
Ebony Nelson of Mercury Fast Laners Athletic Club also had some victories in her basket. National sprinter, Nelson, who had no competition in her category, won the girls U-20 100m ahead of Nickita Skeete. Nelson then returned to catalog a second win in the girl’s 200m later in the day.
Kevin ‘De Menace’ Scott, who was not selected for Inter- Guiana Games team, made his name at the Championship in style. Scott, who was clothed in a black body suite, which symbolized his strength, was positive in registering his three victories after informing Kaieteur Sport in an invited comment about his performance before the end of the Championships. “Just watch and you will see,” he said. “De Menace is back!” he continued.
Scott decimated his rivals in the 100m, 200m and 400m to accumulate a total of 30 points for his school.
