Affiliates of the Cavaliers Sports and Tour Club (CSTC) are currently engaged in a series of activities dubbed ‘7th Race Walk month’ that encompass race walks, seminars and exhibitions among other activities throughout the month of August.
Staged under the theme ‘Unifying Guyana through the sport race walking,’ the organizers are currently addressing the programme and already the Emancipation day race walk and a junior race walk have been staged. Yesterday morning local race walkers competed in a race around the Melanie Damishana village and this morning the organizers will be conducting countrywide training sessions.
Consequently, activities will be shifted to Soesdyke once again on Saturday August 13 next with a 10k exhibition race walk followed by a reception. One day later the race walkers convene at the inner circuit of the National Park for a similar event over 10k. Thereafter, those affiliates would be engaged in several activities that range from race walks to seminars pertaining to the intricacies of the sport.
Activities conclude with an exhibition and gift day from Monday August 29 to August 31 next. The venue for closing activities is the CSTC Headquarters, Back Road, Soesdyke.
