ECB, ECUSA saddened at the passing of Duncan
The officials of the Essequibo Cricket Board are saddened at the passing of international umpire, Guyanese Clyde Duncan.
President of the ECB, Sheik Ahmad, said he shared a good relationship with Mr. Duncan over the years and his services will surely be missed both locally and internationally. “Duncan was always willing to train young umpires whenever he was approached; the entire Essequibo cricketing fraternity will miss him.”
Public Relations Officer of the ECB, Nazeer Mohamed, told Kaieteur sport that the board would like to express its condolence to Duncan’s family in this time of bereavement.
Meanwhile, Secretary of the Essequibo Cricket Umpires and Scorers Association, Lennie Mohamed, stated that members of the association are also saddened at Duncan’s passing.
Mohamed said that Duncan conducted a number of umpiring training sessions in the Cinderella county and as a result many umpires were successful at their exams.
Mohamed also told Kaieteur sport that his training sessions would normally benefit not only umpires but cricketers as well since the sessions were well attended.
He said the association will surely miss his expertise and would like to express heartfelt sympathy to his family. (Zaheer Mohamed)
