Transport Sports Club’s (TSC) Kevin Ross followed up his first innings 6-49 with 8-109 yesterday against Police on the 2nd day of the batsman-dominated Georgetown Cricket Association (GCA) Carib Beer Heroes Cup 2-day first division cricket tournament.
Discarded West Indies Test opener Ryan Ramdass and Wicketkeeper Joseph Perry both scored tons in a double century opening partnership for Everest against GCC at Bourda after Ramnaresh Sarwan, Ricardo Jadunauth and Vishaul Singh had notched up centuries on the opening day of that match while Police’s Wicketkeeper Rawle Browne continued his good showing in Demerara’s cricket by scoring 141 and the 6th century in the round.

Former Test opener Ryan Ramdass steers for a single during his solid 147 for Everest at Bourda yesterday.
Ross, the 35-year-old off-spinner bowled half of the 60 overs that Police batted yesterday in an unchanged spell after opening the bowling to finish with match figures of 14-168 as Police declared at 247-9 in their 2nd innings.
The 32-year-old Browne, the younger brother of former Guyana 1st class batsman Robin Browne and ex-West Indies pacer Barrington Browne, stroked the ball sweetly on the slow track and heavy outfield and got support from Shameer Fazal (25) and Cecil Adams (21) as Police Captain Vishal Jaigobin strangely declared with his team just 3 runs away from an extra bonus point.
Set 253 to win in the final session, TSC reached 141-7 by the close with Mac Nicholson (47), Carl Rambarose (21) and Kadir Manjoor (20) offering resistance.
Youthful off-spinner Jason Heyliger, in a ploy that is becoming increasingly fashionable in Guyana’s cricket, opened the bowling to take 3-49. Parnell London supported with 3-24 as the match ended in a draw with the Cops, who had West Indies Blind team Coach Barrat Mangru making a return to division one cricket, collecting first innings points.
Scores: Police 104 & 247-9, TSC 99 & 141-7.
At Bourda, Everest began the final day on 42-0 replying to GCC’s 393-3 declared and the 27-year-old Ramdass, who scored 23 and 3 in his only Test against Sri Lanka in 2005 after he scored 3 tons, 4 fifties and averaged 30.64 from his 21 First-Class matches, batted solidly for 147 on a batting paradise.
Ramdass, who last played for Guyana 5 years ago, added 252 for the first wicket with Perry who finished unbeaten on 113. Abilash Dookie (24) chipped in as Everest finished on 316-4 to give GCC first innings points in the high-scoring draw.
Skipper Leon Johnson took 2-52 from 24 overs of leg-spin while 18-year-old left-arm spinner Raj Nanan had 2-84 from 42 overs.
Scores: GCC 393-3 declared, Everest 316-4.
Meanwhile, the GCA has announced that their cricket development outreach coaching programme will commence on Tuesday at the GYO ground.
This programme will see four GCA coaches (Roger Harper, Mark Harper, Neil Barry and Reon King) coaching at one club in Georgetown every Tuesday afternoon. The coaching session for members of the various clubs will be divided in sections for Spin bowlers, Fast bowlers, Wicketkeepers and Batsmen.
