Victoria Najab’s preparation for the National Grade Six Assessment (NGSA) was filled with days of attentive listening to her teacher, Sir Chandra, of the ABC Academy which she attended and late nights of studying. The end result was her securing the third highest placement in the examination for the country with a score of 551 marks.
The aspiring lawyer will attend Queen’s College in September. She advises that students hoping to sit the NGSA should not only focus on doing well academically but also opt to live a very spiritual life. Prayers played no little part in her success.
According to her, she attended extra lessons for about two hours after school but noted that while Sir Chandra was a strict teacher it was fun learning when he taught. In fact, she revealed that it was her interaction with Sir Chandra during the classes that caused her to embrace the thought of becoming a lawyer.
“I love to debate and I was able to argue how I came up with some answers in class with Sir Chandra. Even if I wasn’t sure about something he would let me do that. So it was since then I knew I wanted to become a lawyer,” said an outspoken Victoria.
And it is for this reason that she is not too eager to break away from her primary institution passionately revealing “I love primary school; if Sir Chandra had a secondary school I would have loved to attend it.”
Nonetheless, she expects that her attendance at QC will see her following the path of her elder siblings who were also high achievers and who attended QC and Bishops respectively. A younger sibling is set to follow the pace and is currently in the care of Sir Chandra as well.
Victoria of 18 Houston, East Bank Demerara is the daughter of Mohammed and Natasha Najab of Najab Trading Enterprise, Robb Street, Georgetown.
According to Victoria’s Mother, she couldn’t be happier with her daughter’s performance, relating her expectation that the excellent performance will be sustained even at the secondary level.
But though Victoria will be directing her sights to gaining a secondary education, she will for now opt to have some much needed fun and relaxation time with her friends.
