The Cultural Centre Tarmac X1 tapeball cricket team recently defeated the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports X1 by a comprehensive 50 runs when the Guyana Tapeball Cricket League staged a 20 team tournament over two weekends at the home of the eventual winners, Cultural Centre Tarmac.
Yesterday morning the champions collected their winnings, a trophy and $100,000 from officials of the exclusive sponsors of the competition, Banks DIH Ltd.
The winning prize was handed over by Brand Manager (Banks Beer), Brian Choo Hen at the sponsors’ Thirst Park Headquarters, yesterday morning.
Captain of the Cultural Centre team, Calvin Burnette collected the first prize on behalf of the winners and relayed his heartfelt gratitude to the sponsors.
The Ministry of Housing and Water were the runners up and collected a trophy and $50,000 for their second place finish.
