The Berbice Cricket Board in a pro-active move on Sunday May 23 would be launching an Elite Training Programme for its senior cricketers at the Albion Cricket Ground.
The programme is part of the Berbice Cricket Board’s developmental programme for the county and would be under the supervision of senior coach Adrian Amsterdam who would receive assistance from Winston Smith and former national coach Albert Smith.
This programme is another project of the Berbice Cricket Board Special events Committee and its Chairman Hilbert Foster explained that its main aim is to make sure that Berbice Senior players remain active and focused during the rainy season. With all cricket in the county suspended due to the weather, the Berbice Cricket Board does not want its senior players to lose focus or become unfit for the Inter-county 20/20 tournament scheduled for late June.
The Senior Cricket Selectors under the chairmanship of Mark Lyte has name 30 senior players to be part of the training programme.
They would be joined by several Under-19 players who the selectors believed have the potential to develop into senior players in the near future. The programme would be launched with an Official programme at the Albion Main Hall with National Senior Manager Mr. Carl Moore giving the feature address.
The players would also be involved in several classroom lectures over the next month as the Berbice Cricket Board strives to get them to understand the importance of discipline and playing for the county.
The 30 senior players selected based on their presence in Guyana are: Assad Fudadin, Richard Ramdeen, Sewnarine Chattergoon, Renwick Batson, Devendra Bishoo, Jason Sinclair, Royston Crandon, Anthony Bramble, Arthley Bailey, Keyron Fraser, Keon Joseph, Keith Fraser, Rajiv Ivan, Michael Newland, Eugene La Fleur, Esuan Crandon, Krisendat Ramoo, Seon Hetmyer, Homchand Pooran, Troy Mathieson, Romine Boodram, Eon Hooper, Vishal Mohabir, Videsh Singh, Sasenarine Sukhdeo, Raid Ally, Shaffiek Khan, Devon Clements and Delbert Hicks.
The Under-19 players selected to train with the team are Dominic Rickey, Harrinarine Chattergoon, Shawn Perreira, Loyden Lewis, Gudakesh Motie-Kanhai, Jeomal La Fleur, Raun Johnson, Shailendra Shameer, Kevin Ramdeen and Sherwin Mc Pherson.
Several players like Narsingh Deonarine, Brendon Bess, and Veerasammy Permaul are all overseas and would be added to the programme when they return.
The Berbice Cricket Board would like to inform all players that attendance to the programme is compulsory and as part of the commitment to their personal development and Berbice Cricket.
