The South Turkeyen Sports Committee (STSC) in collaboration with the Bannas Foundation and Johnny ‘Overseas’ Barnwell has organized a Pre-Easter Day of Sports for villagers of that community on Sunday April 4 at the Mahaicony Community Centre Ground starting at 09:30hrs.
The programme was organized in honour of the 8th Memorial Anniversary of the late Gordon Bynoe and activities include a two laps cycle race around the Mahaicony village, a five overs softball cricket match, basketball, domino and a seven-a-side football encounter between a Mahaicony team and one from Georgetown.
Trophies, medals and other prizes donated by several notable individuals and business entities would be at stake. Contributors include Regional Chairman of the Region 5 National Democratic Council, Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports, Dr. Frank Anthony, Trophy Stall, Bish Panday of P&P Insurance, Geoffrey DaSilva of Go Invest Guyana Ltd and leader of the PNC, Robert Corbin.
Several entities and individuals donated cash prizes towards the successful staging of the event including President for Partnership for Networking and Development of Guyana, Dr. Richard Van West Charles, the executive of Bannas Foundation, Errol Tiwari of the B K International Ltd, Mark Bender of TCL, RT Brigadier General, Edward Collins, Digicel, Citizens Bank, Attorney-at-Law, Basil Williams, Prime Minister, Sam Hinds and Registrar of the UG, Vincent Alexander.
Other organizers include Kevin Walcott, Ms Moore, Aubrey Fraser and the Bynoe family.
