Corporate support for Caribbean Powerlifting Championships flows

With a mere day to go before the start of the 4th Annual IPF/ NAPF/Caribbean Islands Bench Press & Powerlifting Championships, the host Federation continues to experience a financial boost by various sections of Corporate Guyana.
In the past two days, the support of the Business community has been gratifying to the President, Executive and members of the Guyana Amateur Powerlifting Federation (GAPF).
BK International Inc., International Pharmaceutical Agency (IPA) and Citizens Bank have all chipped in to ensure that this championship which has attracted participation from six other countries, namely the United States of America, Cayman Islands, Puerto Rico, Trinidad and Tobago, British Virgin Islands and the US Virgin Islands are the best ever.
Operations Manager of BK International Inc. Ray Isaacs, in handing over the cheque to Treasurer of the GAPF Monty Livan, congratulated the entity for having the vision in bringing the Championships to Guyana for the first time.
“We at BK are very delighted to be a part of this history making event which shows the rest of the region and the world that we have the capacity not only to compete against the best in the world but we can also host these competitions and do so at a very high standard.”
Isaacs also noted that BK has been very supportive of sports and its development in Guyana over the years.
International Pharmaceutical Agency Group Finance Controller Reginald Persaud presented their contribution to one of Guyana’s leading athletes, Mervin ‘Spongy’ Moses at their Camp Street Office.
Persaud was high in praise for the constant climb and growth of the local Powerlifters citing that IPA had no hesitation in supporting the GAPF when they were approached.
“We are very pleased to make this contribution and we want to wish the team and the executive of the GAPF good luck this weekend. We will be there to cheer you on.”
Manager of Operations at Citizens Bank Denise Thompson said she was delighted on behalf of Management and staff to make a tangible contribution towards the successful staging of the event in Guyana.
Ms. Thompson told the small gathering that Citizens Bank was banking on a winning team of executives and athletes and they will be cheering on the local athletes this weekend.
“We would like to applaud you for the work you have been doing for the development of the sport. The fact that three of our athletes are rated in the world is testimony to your commitment and dedication in guiding the expansion of this sport. We wish the athletes the best of luck. “
