Grass Track Practice Sessions set for Joe Vieira Park

Chappy, ATV races added to Sunday’s programme

Dirt Bike riders gearing for Sunday’s INXS Performance ‘Hot Track, Grass Track’ at the Joe Vieira Park on the West Bank of Demerara can use the ground between 3-6pm daily for their practice sessions and routines.
Kaieteur Sport was informed yesterday that riders are asked to maximise practice time at the ground in an effort to get acquainted with the facility that will host the first race of the ‘Big Money’ Series from Sunday.
A representative of INXS Performance, Hilbert Foster said that the ground was in good condition when he saw it yesterday and as such the riders can use it during the stipulated time for their practice sessions.
“We weeded the ground and prepared it already so the riders can practice between 3-6 pm everyday leading up to the event,” Foster said, adding that everything will be perfect to host the mega event on Sunday. He disclosed that they have added four Chappy races and two four-wheeled ATV (All-Terrain Vehicle) events-one an exhibition-to the programme. The event is set to begin at 10am for ‘Family Fun Day’ atmosphere. It will be held under the theme ‘This Is How We Ride’ and is expected to feature “the very best in bike stunts and riding’ combining skills and entertainment in one of the most thrilling and riveting displays.
The professional prizes are $20,000 for first place, $12,000 for second and $8,000 for third place along with trophies. The novices will pocket $12,000 for first place $8,000 for second and $6,000 for third.
Stag Beer, Digicel, Akbar Auto Sales, Two Brothers Service Station, Pepsi and Stag Beer are among the sponsors of the event.
