Jamla Crawford’s 126 and 5 for 31 seal victory for No. 43 Scorpion

The 2009 New Building Society Second Division 40-Over Cricket Competition organised by the Berbice Cricket Board continued recently with Jamla Crawford turning in an outstanding allround performance for No. 43 Scorpion in their match against No. 47 Pioneer.
Crawford firstly opened the batting with Hemnauth Goberdhan and the two featured in an opening stand for 116 before Goberdhan fell for 63. Crawford continued to hold the innings together featuring in a 90 run 6th wicket stand with Balram Samaroo (23) to help No. 43 reach 176 in 37.1 overs.
When No. 47 Pioneer began their response, No. 43 opening pacer Nigel Bhownauth picked up three early wickets. Medium pacer Crawford joined the fray and picked up 5 for 31 to see them bowled out for 158 in 35.1 overs.
Opening batsman Mankarran Singh hit 69 to assist Whim National A score 226 in 33.5 overs against Whim national B. His team-mate, pacer Appadu took 5 for 21 from 6.5 overs to oversee Whim B being bowled out for 161 in reply despite a fine 75 from Mahendra Basdeo.
In a low scoring affair, Unity of Skeldon Line Path did very well to bowl out Springlands, but they had other plans and their pacer Amzan Appalsammy picked up 6 for 34 from 6 overs as Unity were routed for 57 in reply.
Other half centuries were scored by Vinode Samaroo of Johns, Ravi Ramsudh of No. 70 Young Blood and Sachin Chabulall of No. 72 Cut and Load.
Pacer Vishwanauth Lallbeharry took 5 for 28 for No. 69 Vikings who nevertheless still went down by 33 runs to No. 64 Young warriors.

At Scottsburg, Springlands beat Unity by 11 runs. Springlands 68 in 22 overs with Raymond Ramdat 3 for 14, Lakhnarine Ramnarine 3 for 18. Unity 57 in 12.3 overs with Amzan Appalsammy 6 for 34, Eric Phillips3 for 13.
At Johns, Johns beat Alness by 61 runs. Johns 189 in 31 overs with Vinode Samaroo 53, Ishwar Baksh 25,Parasram Tilkuram 4 for 41, Jairam Beepi 3 for 54. Alness 128 in 31.1 overs.
