Godwin McPherson Foundation to host ‘Day of Sports’
The Godwin McPherson Foundation will host an inaugural ‘Day of Sports’ at the Paradise Community Centre Ground on Saturday where a number of sport events are scheduled for the entire day.
Among the events scheduled are a 10km cycle race; 6km road race, softball, football and races for children. The events are scheduled to get underway at 6am with the cycle race that will be followed by the road race at 7am. The other events will be held at the Paradise Ground. Kaieteur Sport understands that the Foundation was launched in October this year at the Guyana Legion. McPherson passed away earlier this year following a stroke.
At the time of his death, the retired Guyana Defence Force Colonel was the President of the Guyana Amateur Basketball Federation. He had held the post since 1991 and was one of the most successful leaders in his early tenure.
