The Linden Amateur Basketball Association has announced the names of their junior All-Star team that will take on Georgetown on the opening night of the Beepat Scorpions All-Star Weekend at the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall.
The event is set for Saturday and Sunday nights, this weekend, where the Senior All-Star teams are to compete on Sunday night. Both All-Star games on both nights are scheduled as the featured encounters of the ‘Showtime’ event.
Linden has named seasoned junior national players, Orin Rose, Akeem Kanhai, Michael Turner and Marlon Pollydore in their team while sharp shooting sensation Chris Williams and Mark Rose also headline a strong 10-man team.
The other players on the team include Devon Gittens, Shane Webster, Harold Adams and Stephon Tappin. The Linden sub-association has also taken a bold step in appointing two new coaches, Claude Williams and Floyd Martindale.
Meanwhile, administrators in the Capital City are still fine-tuning their final teams which are likely to be released today according to well placed sources close to the Georgetown Amateur Basketball Association (GABA).
The GABA has however announced 12 players from which 10 will be finally selected on their junior team. The Georgetown sub-association will also name its senior 10-man team from a 13-member squad that was short-listed last week.
The Georgetown junior squad include former Inter-Guiana Games Most Valuable Player, Travis Burnett, national junior players, John Fraser, Shelroy Thomas, Kiev Chesney and Clive Wilson with dunk champ, Tyrone Hamid.
The support cast will come from Jermaine Slater, who is expected to make the final team, Kevin Levans, Keith Tute, Courtney Hinds, Marlon Anderson and Travis Williams. Their will be hard work for the selectors in this field.
