Chubby under-14 league: Santos whip Rhythm Squad; Alpha & Pele are no shows
Action in the 2nd Annual Chubby Junior Football League being contested at the under-14 level this year got underway yesterday at the Tucville ground with Santos whipping Rhythm Squad 3-0 in the only game out of four of the day that produced goals.
The three other games featuring Flamingo and Strike Again, Beacon against Fruta Conquerors and Sunburst Camptown/Renaissance all ended scoreless. Alpha United and Pele who were down to play Strike Again and GFC never showed up for action.
Santos won their clash against Rhythm Squad within a 5 minute first half burst which saw al 3 goals being scored.
First it was Jermaine Bamfield in the 14th minute followed one minute later by Travis Fitzpatrick with Kevon Leote sealing the deal from the penalty spot, 2 minutes later.
Santos and GFC are at the helm of group A with 3 points each, Beacon and Fruta Conquerors are on 1 apiece.
Three (3) teams in group B are on 1 point each, Strike Again, Renaissance and Sunburst Camptown.
The tournament which is expected to be concluded before school reopens will continue tomorrow with 6 matches.
The two opening matches at 08:30hrs features Conquerors against Rhythm Squad and GFC opposing Santos. From 10:00hrs, Camptown engage Thomas United and Renaissance play Alpha United. (Franklin Wilson)
