Kaieteur Sports – All-round Annandale Secondary skipped to an easy 7 wicket victory over Abram Zuil yesterday during their Qualifier match played at the Enterprise Ground, led by some dynamic bowling from spinner Akeem Persaud who bagged 4 wickets to help his school book their place for next week’s finals.
Winning the toss and batting first didn’t go well for Abram Zuil, who had been struggling as a team over the last few games, this time finding themselves shot down for 87-10 after 19 overs which led to another low-scoring yet exciting battle.
Despite leaking 19 extras, the Annandale bowling still remained effective as the trio of Match MVP and one of Guyana’s brightest youth prospects Persaud bagged 4-11, backed by Sanjay Dindyal (3-14) and skipper Joshua Bollers (2-32).
The collective effort by the three bowlers kept wickets tumbling around Abram Zuil’s top-scorer Marcanthony Obermuller (30) who hit 5 fours before being removed.

Abram Zuil celebrates an Annandale wicket during the first Qualifier of the MOE and Beharry Secondary Schools Cricket tournament at Enterprise Ground yesterday.
With a small target in sight, Annandale eventually cruised to 88-3 in 16 even overs after Bollers played a Captain’s knock with 32 off 39 balls (3×4), before Ruel Dindyal took over the match with a boundary-less 29 not out; which saw his team over the line with overs to spare.
MVP candidate with the bat this tournament, Ravid Fredericks (1-15) failed with the bat earlier but tried to keep Abram Zuil in the game, alongside efforts from Joash Inniss (1-9) and Rhonel Nurse (1-14); which in the end came up short.
Meanwhile, all eyes will turn to Tuesday 25th August where Annandale will look to pull out one more huge win when they square off against the mighty Berbice Educational Institute (BEI) in the highly-anticipated finals which will be hosted at the Queen’s College Ground.
