Kaieteur Sports – Westside Golf Course witnessed an exciting day of golf and entertainment on Sunday as 57 players, supported by more than 100 enthusiastic spectators, turned out for the inaugural Umami $1,000,000 Cash Hole-in-One Challenge.
The massive cash prize remained elusive, despite three players coming within inches of making history and taking home the million-dollar jackpot. With the prize still unclaimed, Umami has announced that the $1,000,000 cash prize will be rolled over, with the next challenge date to be announced soon.
Spectators were treated to an afternoon of impressive shots, dramatic near-misses and plenty of excitement as players attempted to land the coveted hole-in-one on the island green.
As the golfing action came to an end, the atmosphere continued into the evening with an impromptu session of music, games and entertainment led by popular Guyanese musician and newly converted golf enthusiast Tony Cutts.
Representatives of Umami expressed their delight with the tremendous turnout and participation, noting that the response to the inaugural challenge demonstrated the enormous appeal of the concept. Based on the level of participation, Umami indicated that the challenge will continue until the $1,000,000 prize is won.
The event further highlighted the growing popularity of Westside Golf Course, which has rapidly established itself as one of Guyana’s premier golf and entertainment destinations, offering guests great food at affordable prices, free access to golf and training, a relaxed family-friendly atmosphere and an unrivalled ambiance that has attracted both experienced golfers and newcomers to the sport.
