Guyana names 3×3 squads for Commonwealth Games and CAC Games campaigns
Kaieteur Sports – The Guyana Basketball Federation (GBF) has announced its men’s and women’s 3×3 basketball teams for two major international assignments later this month, with the country set to compete at the Commonwealth Games in Scotland and the Central American and Caribbean (CAC) Games in the Dominican Republic.

The Commonwealth Games will be held in Glasgow from July 23 to August 2, while the CAC Games are scheduled for July 24 to August 8 in Santo Domingo.

The announcements mark another significant milestone for Guyana’s expanding 3×3 programme, with the men’s team preparing to make history by competing in the discipline at both the Commonwealth Games and the CAC Games for the first time.
Meanwhile, the women’s team returns to the CAC Games after making its debut at the 2023 edition in El Salvador and will be aiming for a stronger performance this time around.
For the Commonwealth Games, Guyana’s men’s squad comprises Anish Ramlall, Travis Belgrave, Christian Hinckson and Kevin Mickle.

The team will be coached by Kidani Brutus, who plays professionally for world-ranked 3×3 powerhouse Team Harlem and has represented the United States in international 3×3 competition.
GBF Vice President Rawle Toney will serve as the contingent’s Technical Delegate.
Following his participation at the Commonwealth Games, Hinckson will travel directly to Santo Domingo to join Guyana’s men’s team for the CAC Games.
There, he will link up with Travis Burnett, Nikkoloi Smith and Akil Hughes as Guyana embarks on another historic campaign.
The women’s team selected for the CAC Games features Anaya Clemons, DeAngelique Waithe, Jamaicy Ogle and Ruth Adams.
Willon Cameron has been appointed head coach of both the men’s and women’s CAC teams, while GBF Vice President Jermaine Slater will serve as Technical Delegate.

GBF President Michael Singh described the selections as another reward for the Federation’s sustained investment in developing 3×3 basketball.
He noted that Guyana’s qualification for two prestigious multi-sport events reflects years of planning and commitment by the Federation to grow the discipline alongside the traditional five-on-five game.
Singh also highlighted an exceptionally busy year for the national basketball programme, citing the men’s participation in the FIBA AmeriCup Caribbean Pre-Qualifiers and the women’s campaign in the FIBA CentroBasket Qualifiers as evidence of the Federation’s balanced approach to developing both formats of the sport.
He expressed confidence in the squads selected, saying they represent a healthy blend of the country’s best available local talent and experienced diaspora players, a combination he believes gives Guyana the best opportunity to compete at a high level.
Singh also acknowledged the continued support of the Guyana Olympic Association (GOA), noting that many of the Federation’s initiatives aimed at exposing Guyanese players to international 3×3 competition would not have been possible without the GOA’s backing.
According to Singhe, the partnership with the GOA has played a pivotal role in the continued growth of the discipline and the opportunities now available to the country’s basketball players on the international stage.
