Kaieteur Sports – Fresh off an impressive singles campaign, Guyana returned to the courts on Monday for the doubles competition at the 2026 Caribbean Area Squash Association (CASA) Junior Championships in Tortola, British Virgin Islands, with Kaylee Lowe and Emily Fung-a-Fat capturing the Girls’ Doubles gold medal.
Buoyed by a successful first three days of competition and an impressive singles medal haul, the defending champions fielded three strong pairings as they continued their pursuit of a second consecutive overall CASA Junior title.
Girls’ Under-17 singles champion Kaylee Lowe teamed up with Emily Fung-a-Fat in the Girls’ Doubles, while Boys’ Under-17 silver medallist Egan Bulkan paired with Shiloh Asregado in the Boys’ Doubles. Ethan Bulkan and Malia Maikoo also represented Guyana in the Mixed Doubles competition.
Lowe and Fung-a-Fat made an emphatic start, brushing aside Dominican pair Estelle Rodriguez and Kayra Burgos Cocco 11-2, 11-2 to open their campaign in commanding fashion.
The Guyanese duo maintained their momentum later in the day, defeating Trinidad and Tobago’s Josie Thong and Aaniyah Ramdeen 11-3, 11-3 to book their place in the championship match.
In the final, Lowe and Fung-a-Fat overcame Jamaica’s Mehar Trehan and Elle Wilson in a thrilling 32-minute encounter. After dropping the opening game 6-11, the Guyanese pair rallied brilliantly to claim the next two games 11-9, 11-9 and secure the Girls’ Doubles crown.
Meanwhile, Bulkan and Asregado also enjoyed a strong start in the Boys’ Doubles, defeating Jamaica’s Ethan Miller and Max Henzell 11-2, 11-7 to advance.
The duo later booked their place in the final with victory over Trinidad and Tobago’s Ross D’Juran and Matteo Felician, setting up a title clash with St. Vincent and the Grenadines’ Jaden George and Aiden DeFreitas. The result of the final was unavailable at press time and will be published in a subsequent edition.
In the Mixed Doubles competition, Ethan Bulkan and Malia Maikoo opened with a convincing 11-2, 11-7 victory over Trinidad and Tobago’s Nixon Callender and Gia Ghuran in just 13 minutes.
However, their run was halted in the following round as they were defeated by Cayman Islands pair Charlie Makin and Milanna Lamontagne, who recovered from losing the opening game to win 9-11, 11-4, 11-3.
