(Kaieteur News) Police are investigating the discovery of a cache of ammunition, firearm components, and military gear on Tuesday at Lusignan New Housing Scheme, East Coast Demerara.
Acting on information received, ranks searched an unoccupied plot of land in the area, focusing on a pile of construction debris on its eastern side. The search turned up 7.62 x 39mm live rounds, spent shells, 12-gauge cartridges, a tear gas canister, several firearm components, and assorted military gear.
All items were seized and taken to Vigilance Police Station, where they were lodged. No arrests have been made, and investigations are continuing.
