(Kaieteur News) Police have reportedly detained a security guard attached to the Mohameds as they reopen their investigation into the killing of Ricardo Fagundes called ‘Paper Shorts’.
Detained is Mark Richmond who is being questioned for the March 2021 killing of Fagundes.
Richmond was named in the early stages of the investigations as one of the suspects in the killing but he was never arrested and reportedly filed a multi-million-dollar suit against Detective Sergeant Dion Bascom who had implicated him in the heinous crime.
In court documents seen, Richmond was identified as a security checker with Mohamed Enterprise and claimed that the statements Bascom had made implicating him in the crime were untrue.
Bascom had made it clear, however that the millions of dollars in lawsuit and multiple cybercrime charges will not change his position.
According to Bascom there is evidence linking the security checker to ‘Paper Shorts’ killing.
He had alleged too that his superiors in the case had covered up the crime.
Not only did Bascom implicate Richmond but he had also implicated the Mohameds.
Almost Five years later police have arrested Richmond for questioning. Speaking with Kaieteur News, Opposition Leader, Azruddin Mohamed said that his security guard is innocent of the accusation.
He claims that police are overlooking another individual of interest.
Mohamed alleged that police know the owner of the car used in the killing but have not moved to question the individual.
The opposition leader believes that the arrest of Richmond might be in connection with his recent exposure of the president’s multi-billion-dollar farm.
Fagundes was shot more than 20 times in March 2021 by two men moments after stepping out of Palm Court on Main Street Georgetown.
The men had emerged from the back seat of a waiting white Toyota Fielder car, which was heavily tinted. Police had later found a burnt-out car at a location along the Soesdyke-Linden Highway.
