Former Sports Journalist Al McDonald to be remembered at ‘night of reflection’ tonight at Guyana Veterans Legion
Kaieteur Sports – The local basketball fraternity and sports fans will be given a chance this evening (Thursday) from 6.00pm at the Guyana Veterans Legion on Carifesta Avenue, to give their tributes for the late former sports journalist Al McDonald, who died on May 25 following burns to his body while being treated at a hospital in Florida, in the United States.

His ashes after he was cremated on Monday, 8th June, in Florida were brought back to Guyana by family members.
Tributes were given by several persons including Patrick Haynes, General Secretary of the Guyana Basketball Federation, Miami-based former President of the Guyana Amateur Basketball Federation John ‘Fishy’ Yates, and President of the Linden Amateur Basketball Association Dawn McCammon Barker.
Al Mc before migrating to the USA worked as a sports journalist and basketball official from the mid-1970s until 1984 when he left these shores to cover the 1984 Los Angeles Olympics.
