Kaieteur Sports – Marian Academy and The New Central High School have secured their places in the National Final of the Blue Water Shipping Girls’ U15 National Championship after emerging as the Georgetown North and Georgetown South champions, respectively.
Marian Academy successfully defended its Georgetown North title following a hard-fought draw against Chase’s Academic Foundation at the National Training Centre. With the teams leveled at the final whistle, Marian Academy was declared champion based on a superior goal difference, a measure that reflects the team’s attacking strength and consistency throughout the competition. The result sees Marian Academy retain its Georgetown North crown and advance to the National Final, where it will compete against the country’s top regional champions for national honours. Marian Academy captain Kaleigh Todd was named the Most Outstanding Player of the Georgetown North leg of the championship in recognition of her outstanding performances and leadership throughout the tournament. Additionally, Skylar DeNobrega of Marian Academy received the trophy for Most Goals Scored in the preliminary round of the competition, having demonstrated exceptional finishing ability throughout the campaign.
Meanwhile, The New Central High School was crowned Georgetown South champion after being awarded a default victory over Lodge Secondary. The result secures the school’s place in the National Final and keeps alive its hopes of capturing the national title. The New Central High School’s Amanda Saunders was named the Most Outstanding Player of the Georgetown South leg of the championship. Saunders played a pivotal role in her school’s successful campaign, delivering a series of standout performances characterized by skill, determination, and a keen eye for goal. The National Final will bring together the country’s regional champions as they compete for the coveted national championship title and continue to showcase the growing strength of girls’ football in Guyana.
