Need for Speed Karting Championship Shifted to Thomas Lands
Georgetown, Guyana – Organizers of the Need for Speed Karting Championship have announced a change of venue for the opening round of the competition, which was originally scheduled to be held at West Bank Demerara.
The event will now take place at the GMR&SC Thomas Lands facility, Albert Street, following unforeseen venue preparation challenges at the original location.

According to organizers, routine renovation works at the West Bank Demerara venue have affected the completion of track preparations within the required timeframe for safety testing and event readiness.
“The venue will be undergoing routine renovations, and we will not be able to complete the necessary track preparation within the stipulated time for safety testing,” organizers explained.
Despite the change, organizers expressed confidence in the new location, noting that the GMR&SC Thomas Lands facility is well-suited to host the championship.
“As such, our management team decided that we needed to look for an alternative venue and we thought of no better place than the home of motorsport, the GMR&SC Thomas Lands facility,” a spokesperson stated.
Organizers added that while work remains to be completed at the original venue, the revised location will ensure the championship proceeds as planned and provides a safe and competitive environment for racers and spectators alike.
Meanwhile, the planned Meet and Greet event scheduled for West Central Mall has been postponed. A new date for the activity will be announced in due course.
The Need for Speed Karting Championship is expected to attract some of the country’s top karting talent as competitors battle for championship honors throughout the season.
