Four secured scholarships during Cabinet outreach in Reg. Two to study Aeronautical Engineering

(Kaieteur News) – Four students of the Essequibo Technical Institute (ETI) on Tuesday secured scholarships from the government to pursue studies in Aeronautical Engineering at the Art Williams and Harry Wendt Aeronautical Engineering School at Ogle.
On Tuesday, Vice President Bharrat Jagdeo and several Cabinet ministers and heads of State agencies engaged residents of Region Two during a public day at the ETI.
According to information provided by the Ministry of Local Government and Regional Development, the students are Cynthia Paul, Maria Prince, Rivaleo Williams and Keiron Smith.

In a video shared by the ministry, the students recently completed an aircraft maintenance programme at the Technical Institute and the next step would be to further their studies at the aeronautical school.
One of the students, Paul said, “Our next step would be starting school in September at the Art Williams and Harry Wendt Aeronautical Engineering School, but to pursue this next step, we would need a scholarship. So, we just met with Minister Priya (Manickchand) and from our interaction, I can safely say it was successful and I think that we are all happy.”
Speaking about the outreach, the students lauded the initiative, noting that it provided them the direct opportunity to raise their concerns with the government officials and received feedbacks.
The VP-led outreach followed a similar event hosted last week, where hundreds turned out to meet with government officials at the Arthur Chung Conference Centre in Region Four.

On the Essequibo Coast on Tuesday, among the key concerns raised by residents were land/ housing matters, services for senior citizens, employment, and agricultural concerns.
During the outreach, the vice president and Cabinet ministers also held a separate meeting with Amerindian Leaders from the region to hear their concerns and how these can be addressed.
The Ministry of Human Services and Social Security posted on its Facebook page, that 77-year-old Inez Schadde of Mainstay came to the outreach seeking a wheelchair, which was delivered to her by Minister Vindhya Persaud.
