(Kaieteur News) – Greedesh Ramkissoon, the 24-year-old son of Surujdai Kahrui, the elderly woman who was found murdered in her Cornelia Ida home last week, was charged with murder on Wednesday.
The 55-year-old woman reportedly lived with her two sons. Preliminary reports suggest that the woman was beaten and hacked to death.
Ramkissoon, a mason of Lot 80 Cornelia Ida, Block ‘Y’, West Coast Demerara, appeared before Magistrate Rabindra Singh at the Leonora Magistrates’ Court where the indictable charge was read to him.
He was not required to plead and was remanded to prison.
Ramkissoon was arrested on Friday, May 29, 2026, in relation to his mother’s murder, which occurred on Thursday, May 28, 2026.
The matter was adjourned to Friday, August 7, 2026.
