Kaieteur Sports – “Outdoor activities are the keys to fitness!”
This magnificent, historical bicycle is “Big Ben”, my (Colin Croft) Raleigh Racing Roadster.
This racing roadster was “made to measure” for me , Colin Croft, in Summer 1995, thirty-one, YES, 31 years ago.
Papa!!
This was accomplished during my (Colin Croft) very first international tour as a Sports Journalist / Cricket Commentator / Analyst / Summarizer, for BBC Television and BBC Test Match Special (TMS) Radio.
The British Broadcasting Corporation had most of the “HOME” broadcasting rights back then.
The cricket tour was West Indies Six-Test Tour to the United Kingdom 1995.
(Yes – Six Test Matches).
That Test Series was tremendously exciting, ending in a 2-2 Tie.
England won the Three-Game ODI Series 2-1.
The tour was also extremely controversial, with very serious upheavals.
So many incidents during that tour.
ONE West Indies cricketer was banished and sent back home in shame, supposedly for “bad behavior”. There was serous disunity in the West Indies camp.
ONE of West Indies “star” players even voluntarily left the team in the UK several times, to return to the Caribbean each time.
Team Managers and others had to return to the Caribbean too, to actually BEG that same player, to return to the team in the UK.
YES. That was some cricket tour to the United Kingdom in 1995.
“BIG BEN” and Colin Croft are still doing quite well in 2026.
That bike has kept me in pretty good shape these many years. Magnificent!!
Thank You God.
