(Kaieteur News) – The We Invest in Nationhood (WIN) party has hired American lobbying firm LGS LLC to engage the United States (U.S.) government, and its private sector. This is according to filings made with the U.S. Department of Justice on February 24, 2026.
The Wyoming-based company is listed in the Foreign Agents Registration document as one that provides consulting services. It lists Stephen Payne and Logan Somera as the President and Vice President respectively.
According to the filing WIN has made an advanced payment of US$250,000 for activities which include the dissemination of information materials on behalf of WIN to legislators, in English, in the form of memoranda and other documents.
The document also states that currently in addition to what is stated in Exhibit B the company is not “engaging now in activity or rendering services on its own behalf which benefits any or all of its foreign principals.”
“The Registrant will advise the Foreign Principal in developing and cultivating its relationships within the United States government and private sector,” the document further stated.
WIN is led by U.S. sanctioned businessman Azruddin Mohamed who was recently elected to serve as Guyana’s Opposition Leader. Mohamed and his father, Nazar ‘Shell’ Mohamed were sanctioned by the U.S. Treasury’s Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) in 2024 for allegedly participating in a multi-year scheme to evade millions of dollars in taxes and royalties owed to the Government of Guyana through fraudulent gold export practices and related money laundering activities.
The Mohameds are currently before the courts as the U.S. made requests for their extradition.
Hana Mohamed, Azruddin’s sister on Friday evening told Kaieteur News that the party has retained a lobbyist firm.
“We confirm that we have retained a lobbyist firm through We Invest in Nationhood (WIN). WIN has support groups in multiple countries around the world. All activities will be conducted lawfully and transparently, and all required filings will be made in accordance with applicable regulations,” she said.
She assured that the process will be transparent. “Nothing will be done in secrecy like the lobbyist firms retained by the Government of Guyana, where details and communications are hidden from Guyanese and shielded from public scrutiny. I am personally overseeing this aspect of our operations,” she said.
Meanwhile, Kaieteur News reported on February 27 that the defence in the Mohameds’ extradition case requested disclosure of communications between the Government of Guyana and U.S.-based lobby firms. That request was denied, with Magistrate Latchman ruling that full disclosure obligations had already been satisfied.
However, the defence indicated that it is currently engaging entities in the United States to obtain those communications independently and requested time to secure the documents.
“We are in the process of engaging entities in the U.S. to assist us in purchasing documents,” an attorney representing the Mohameds said.
