(Kaieteur News) – A 40-year-old woman was on Monday fined $20,000 for importing 10 dogs without the necessary permit.
Elizabeth Chung, called “Liza,” a Chef of Albertown and Alexander Village, Georgetown was arrested on November 22, 2025 at the Bina Hill Police Checkpoint, Region 9. She was charged with Importing a terrestrial animal without a permit, contrary to Section 22(1) and Section 40(1)(a) of the Animal Health Act No. 7 of 2011.
Chung appeared at the Lethem Magistrate’s Court before His Worship Omadatt Chandan. The charge was read to her, she pleaded guilty and was fined.

What on earth is she going to do with 10 dogs? Sorry but with her apparently Chinese name and the influx of Chinese nationals, you have to wonder about the breed of the dogs and if she might be butchering then for consumption
