(Kaieteur News) – Ten children of employees at the Guyana Logistics and Support Services Inc. (GLASS) Group of Companies were awarded bursaries on August 13, 2026, in recognition of their performance on the National Grade Six Assessment (NGSA), through a partnership between GLASS and the Guyana Americas Merchant Bank (GuyAMBank).
The award ceremony was held at the GLASS office, 87 Barrack Street, Kingston, Georgetown, at 10:30 hrs.
This year’s programme marked a departure from previous bursary drives, incorporating a financial literacy and investment component for both awardees and their families. Speaking on behalf of GLASS, Chief Executive Officer, Glenn Low-a-Chee said the addition was designed to extend the impact of the award beyond a one-time payment.
“We wanted to go beyond providing financial assistance by introducing a component that encourages long-term financial planning and investment,” Low-a-Chee said. “Through this initiative, we are giving parents and students a head start on their educational journey.”
General Manager of GuyAMBank, Ganesh Jaikaran, said the bank’s involvement reflected its broader commitment to youth development.
“Investing in young people today helps build a stronger future for Guyana,” Jaikaran said. “We are proud to be part of this initiative.”
Parents of the awardees also expressed appreciation to GLASS and GuyAMBank, noting that the initiative promotes both education and financial empowerment from an early age.

The bursary presentation comes a day ahead of Financial Literacy Day, observed on August 14, 2026, lending added significance to the programme’s focus on equipping young people and their families with tools for long-term financial planning.
