Kaieteur Sports – The excitement is building as the final eight schools have been confirmed for the GFF Blue Water Shipping Under-15 National Secondary School Championship.
This year’s quarterfinal lineup features a mix of new contenders and returning powerhouses. Marian Academy, Wauna Primary, Annai Secondary, and Christianburg Wismar Secondary have all made history by qualifying for this stage of the competition for the very first time. They join Bartica Secondary, Waramuri Secondary, Bush Lot Secondary, and President’s College, who are determined to improve their performances from last year and make a strong run for the national title.
The tournament has been nothing short of thrilling so far. A total of 191 goals were scored during the preliminary rounds, with President’s College netting an impressive 23 goals and Marian Academy close behind with 21. In the Round of 16, teams combined for 56 goals, with President’s College again dominating the scoresheet with 27 goals in that round alone. Among the standout players is Reyanna Gounga, last year’s runner-up for the Top Goal Scorer award, who is once again in contention for the coveted title.
The Guyana Football Federation extends heartfelt appreciation to all who have contributed to the continued success of this program. Special thanks to Tristone Auto Sales and Greaves Transportation and Tours for their sponsorship and support of Wauna Primary and Annai Secondary, respectively.
The GFF also acknowledges the invaluable contributions of the Ministry of Education, the teachers who dedicated their time and energy to prepare and accompany their teams, and the parents whose encouragement and support continue to inspire the young athletes.
Most of all, appreciation goes to the students and players across Guyana who participated with passion, teamwork, and sportsmanship ensuring another successful year for the championship.
