Sports facility at Rose Hall Community Centre to be built from proceeds of Berbice Trade Fair and Expo
Kaieteur Sports – Organiser of the annual Berbice Exposition and Trade Fair, the Central Corentyne Chamber of Commerce (CCCC) plans to use parts of their profits to do some enhancements work at the Rose Hall Community Centre in East Canje. This according to President of the CCCC Mr Poonai Bhijroog.
The exposition which will once again be held at the Rose Hall Community Centre (RHCC). Will be held from Friday 31st October to Monday 3 November.
The CCCC annual Trade Fair and Expo use to be staged at the Albion Community Centre but for the past few years it has been shifted to the RHCC.
The RHCC was once among the top cricket grounds in the country. It was the venue for a number of first class and international matches. Over the years it has not been maintained to first class standard and is in need of serious rehabilitation.
According to Bhijroog every year the CCCC used some of its profits to give back to the community. He said that the RHCCC was one of the beneficiaries last year and the CCCC think it’s fitting to assist the RHCC again.
According to Coordinator Mr Tajpaul Adjodha, preparations for the 19 Expo and Trade Fair is almost complete. He said that they are leaving no stones unturned to make this event the showpiece trade activity in the country this year. The activity this year plans to the biggest so far. It is being held under theme, “harnessing New Wealth: modernizing Traditional Sectors for Suitable Economic Development.”
The expo is being held to give producers in Berbice and Berbice-based businesses the opportunity to help showcase themselves. It also helps the businesses to get the opportunity to create links and partners with other business outside of the region. There are not any spaces left.
Apart from the regular bevy of Guyanese companies that are expected to be in attendance displaying products of all sorts, some new ones are expected on board while others are returning.
Most of the companies plan to have big giveaways at the event. (Samuel Whyte)
